MediaTek has launched its Dimensity 720 SoC to power the mid-range devices of later 2020 and 2021. This is a mid-range chipset which has built-in 5G support. According to its features, we can assume that it has a decent performance. With almost the same CPU architecture, the rival of MediaTek, Qualcomm also has its Snapdragon 675 SoC. Dimensity 720 vs Snapdragon 675: CPU, GPU & Manufacturing Process
In the CPU section, both chipsets, the Dimensity 720 and Snapdragon 675 have octa-core CPU based on 64 bit memory architecture, where the Dimensity 720 integrates 2 ARM Cortex-A76 Performance Cores operating at up to 2GHz clock speed and 6 ARM Cortex-A55 Efficiency Cores running with a maximum clock speed of up to 2GHz.
While on the other side, Snapdragon 675 has Kryo 460 CPU which basically includes 2 ARM Cortex-A76 Gold Cores clocked at up to 2.00GHz and 6 ARM Cortex-A55 Silver Cores that can be operated at up to 1.80GHz clock speed.
Here both have the same architecture but the Dimensity 720 has a better clock speed because of which it has better CPU processing in comparison to Snapdragon 675. So in terms of CPU processing, MediaTek Dimensity 720 is a better chipset than Snapdragon 675.

While on the other side, Snapdragon 675 features the Qualcomm Spectra 250L image signal processor – a 14-bit Dual ISP that can handle up to 16MP + 16MP dual-camera at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL and single-camera of up to 25MP at 30fps with MFNR & ZSL, up to 48MP with MFNR and up to 192MP without MFNR & ZSL.
Here the newer Dimensity 720 supports up to 12GB LPDDR4x RAM operating at up to 2133MHz and UFS 2.2 based storage.
While Snapdragon 675 supports up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM clocked at up to 1866MHz and UFS 2.1 based storage.
Here the Dimensity 720 has better RAM & storage support in comparison of Snapdragon 675.
In the display section, Snapdragon 675 supports up to Full HD+(2520×1080 pixels) displays while the Dimensity 720 supports up to Full HD+(2520×1080 pixels) 90Hz displays.
Connectivity-wise, the Dimensity 720 is a 5G chipset while Snapdragon 675 is a 4G chipset. The Dimensity 720 can capture a maximum downloading speed of up to 2.3Gbps whereas the Snapdragon 675 can provide a maximum downloading speed of up to 600Mbps using LTE Cat.12 and an uploading speed of up to 150Mbps using LTE Cat.13. For fast charging, it has support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology.
While other features like Wifi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, FM Radio, etc. are the same in both SoCs.
