Helio G85 vs Helio P95: CPU & GPU
Starting with the CPU section, both SoCs have 64-bit octa-core CPU where the Helio G85 has 2 ARM Cortex-A75 Big Cores clocked at up to 2.00GHz and 6 ARM Cortex-A55 Little Cores running at up to 1.80GHz whereas the Helio P95 integrates 2 ARM Cortex-A75 Performance Cores clocked at up to 2.2GHz and 6 ARM Cortex-A55 Efficiency Cores that can operate at up to 2.0GHz.
Here both have the same architecture but the Helio P95 has a better clock speed of its CPU because of which it is ahead of the Helio G85 in terms of CPU processing.
For gaming purposes, the Helio G85 integrates an ARM Mali-G52 GPU clocked at CPU to 1GHz which is paired with the HyperEngine Game technology of MediaTek while on the other hand, the Helio P95 has an IMG PowerVR GM 9446 GPU. Here the Helio G85 has a better gaming performance in comparison to the Helio P95 SoC, of course, the Helio G85 is a gaming processor so it should have the better GPU.
In this section, both SoCs are the same, both are built on the 12nm manufacturing process of TSMC. So in terms of power-efficiency, both the Helio G85 and the Helio P95 are the same.
Helio G85 vs Helio P95: Camera, Memory & Display
Coming to the camera and optics, here the Helio G85 has support for a dual camera of up to 16MP + 16MP and a single-camera of up to 48MP while on the other side, Helio P95 supports up to 24MP + 16MP dual and up to 64MP single camera support. So in the case of camera support, the Helio P95 is better than the Helio G85.
Speaking of the Helio G85, it has support for up to 4GB LPDDR3 RAM clocked at up to 933MHz and up to 6GB LPDDR4x RAM operating at up to 1600MHz along with eMMC 5.1 based storage.
On the other side, the Helio P95 can support up to 8GB Dual-Channel LPDDR4x RAM operating at up to 1866MHz and UFS 2.1 based storage. So here also the Helio P95 is better than the Helio G85.
In the display section, the Helio G85 supports up to Full HD Plus displays whereas the Helio P95 also has support for the same display.
For handling AI tasks, the Helio P95 got an APU 2.0 which can provide a maximum AI performance of up to 1300GMACs while the Helio G85 doesn’t bring a dedicated AI Engine. It uses its CPU and GPU’s power to handling AI tasks. So it can’t beat the Helio P95 in terms of AI processing.
Connectivity-wise, both are 4G ready chipsets where both have a 4G modem. Here the Helio G85 can provide a maximum downloading speed of up to 300Mbps using LTE Cat.7 and an uploading speed of up to 150Mbps using LTE Cat.13. While on the other hand, the Helio P95 uses LTE Cat.12 to provide a maximum downloading speed of up to 600Mbps and LTE Cat.13 for providing an uploading speed of up to 300Mbps. Other features like Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 FM Radio, Beidou, Galileo, Glonass, GPS are the same in both chipsets.
